About The Red Rose Cake Co

Cakes. Nr Llangollen, North Wales

£500 - £1000

Cake has played a role in my life as far back as I remember.  One of my earliest memories is being allowed to lick the cake bowl out or being given the spoon to lick.

I have always baked, initially making the children’s birthday cakes and always taking cake as a gift when visiting.

A chance opportunity allowed me to start taking orders and that continued until I was able to open a small cake shop.  There is never a sad occasion for cake, it is always a celebration.  Weddings. Became a part of my cake life and that absolute pleasure of being able to create something and be involved in that special day is something that I never take for granted.

These days I like to restrict myself to weddings cake but try hard to give them some personality and represent my couple.  This is often the only surprise they will have as they have chosen everything for their celebration.  They have to trust in me and I have to be sure that I understand their ideas.  It’s a great match.  I am happy to work within my own local area or travel to their venue, that is part of the initial discussion process, as are tasters.

Each cake is different and that is the fun.  I like the classic styles but I love the quirky and the different.  Best of all I enjoy meeting all of the couples who have embarked on their wedding journey, their stories of meeting and plans for the future.  It really is the best job

Previous Weddings

We have travelled to some amazing wedding venues across North Wales, Cheshire, the Wirral and Shrewsbury.  There is a huge array of spectacular places for weddings and it is difficult to choose my favourites.

I love every single wedding cake that I make and can remember each one.  However there have been occasions when the cake has a resonance for me.

The first image is taken from a very different view point and I just loved that about it.  I never see a cake from above and so it stays in my mind.  You also get to see the brides dress in a way that is unusual.

The second was designed entirely by the couple and I just had to create that design.  It was one of the most fun cakes every but contained lots of different techniques so was also quite challenging.

The third was a recent cake at a new venue.  They just worked so well together and whilst a simple cake, the sugar flowers gave it such elegance, I fell in love with it.

Thank you so much Julie for our lovely wedding cake! Julie was fantastic all the way through. We didn't have a strong idea of what we wanted but she was brilliant at helping us decide what might work for us. The end result was absolutely stunning, and tasted amazing. Thank you so much Julie! X

Julie is absolutely amazing, I knew from the moment we stumbled across her stall at a Wedding Fayre she would be the person to make our wedding cake. I fell in love with her designs and of course how delicious her cake is! She is always a dream to talk to, and she clearly cares about her customers. She even managed to make me an emergency vegan cake after I’d assumed fruit cake was vegan 😳! On the day the cake was stunning, we had so many compliments, and I was reluctant to share our leftovers as it really was the best cake I’ve ever tasted. She will have a customer for life in me now - I won’t be buying store cakes, I’d rather buy from someone who puts their heart and soul into their business and have something unique. Thank you for making our perfect cake Julie 💕

We were recommended to The Red Rose Cake Company to use for our wedding and we could instantly see why. From initial contact with Julie she was nothing but friendly and helpful. She was very accommodating and went out of her way to meet us for a cake tasting; which was a lovely experience and the cakes tasted amazing! Once we had chosen the flavours, we continued to discuss our ideas for the style of cake we were after; to which Julie used her experience and knowledge to offer advice on what would work best and meet our wishes. On the day of our wedding, the cake was delivered to our venue without any issues and she positioned the cake where requested. The cake was exactly what we had hoped for and the attention to detail was second to none. We were so happy with our cake and experience that since our wedding, we have returned to Julie several times to have cakes made for special occasions and we will continue to do so in the future. We couldn't recommend or thank her enough.
